Video – Debbie Millman on the Chase Jarvis Live Show
Anything worthwhile takes a long time
Why You Should Watch It:
In this conversation with Chase Jarvis, Debbie Millman provides insight into her own experiences about success. She touches upon many concepts including worthiness, vision, self-doubt and more. Each of her insights is deep, rich and meaningful and applying some of them have already enabled me to think more clearly and build an even better plan for the second half of 2017.
Thoughts:
Things don’t always go the way I want them to. Managing myself and keeping on track is a daily struggle. I know that the consistency with which I approach my work will have long term effects. The difficulty is having the patience. This is a video I’m going to revisit when I feel I need that extra inspiration. Because while most of the time I’m carried to action by my dreams and passion, sometimes I need an inspiring reminder that I’m in this for the long haul and that success will show itself when my labours have distilled into a wonderful concoction that the world can’t get enough of. Not a second before.
Book – Guerrilla Marketing
When people see that you’re truly interested in them and that you continue to curry their favor, they’ll believe in you. Believing in you means that you’ve won credibility in their minds.
Why You Should Read It:
This book is a cache of marketing tactics. Jay Conrad Levinson was a marketing genius. In this book he shared not only tactics but an in-depth understanding of how small business owners can market themselves effectively regardless of their budget.
Thoughts:
One of the things I promised myself and that I affirm to myself every morning, is that I will treat my professional world as my playground; I will feel safe to just have fun and try new things without worrying about the consequence of failure. I know that I can succeed time and time again only after having learned what doesn’t work. This book has given me so many ideas of different things that I’m going to try. Now I just have to get through my notes. 🙂
Podcast – Being Boss – [FROM THE ARCHIVES] – Brené Brown
Creativity is all about straddling the tension, leaning into the discomfort and finding your way through the dark. – Brené Brown
Why You Should Listen:
Being Boss is an excellent podcast for creatives – pick any episode and you’ll take something that you can apply to yourself and your business. I’ve listened to this episode with before. And I’m so happy that the bosses at Being Boss pulled it out of the archives and shared again this past month. As usual Brené delivers, giving a beautiful in-depth understanding of what creativity is and how we can dare live a life of creativity despite the pain that comes with it.
Thoughts:
Not only inspirational, this episode has helped me be more patient with the creative process and with myself. I love the distinction Brené makes between striving for excellence and perfectionism and her idea to create white space – time for creativity that is non-negotiable is something that I have applied in the past month and know it works. I also love that I can now formulate why I’m pursuing to build this blog and platform for Successful Women of Israel, even though there are no guarantees that I will succeed.
